Intellectual Property
One of the missions of Instituto Superior Técnico is the promotion and valorization of Intellectual Property (IP). As such, we currently have a portfolio of over 250 patents. Many of these stem from research projects in collaboration with companies, which have the right of first refusal for licensing aimed at their commercial exploitation.
In addition to patents, Técnico also licenses other forms of Intellectual Property rights, such as copyrights for computer programs, trademarks associated with technological products, among others, and provides support in contracting activities that may generate Intellectual Property.
Through the Intellectual Property Hub, Técnico has a set of internal procedures for managing its Intellectual Property, including the analysis of documents submitted by inventors, authors, and creators.
Furthermore, it is the mission of the Intellectual Property Hub to support the dissemination of Intellectual Property, promoting initiatives such as IP Talks, workshops dedicated to IP topics.
