Whenever an invention, creation, or software, partially or wholly owned by Técnico, has potential for economic exploitation, the first step should be its formal communication to Técnico.

Upon receiving this complete information, the inventors, creators, or authors engage in a dynamic collaboration with Técnico’s Technology Transfer Office (TT@Técnico), which involves several crucial stages, including:

• Evaluation of Técnico’s interest in protecting the communicated invention, creation, or software;
• Preparation and management of the registration application, if Técnico decides to pursue protection;
• Valorization of the invention, creation, or software through collaboration with an established company or by creating a spin-off.

This process is essential to ensure that the knowledge generated at Técnico is properly protected and valorized, transforming innovative ideas into solutions with market and societal impact.
