The next edition of i.Talks Técnico–Brisa (2025) brings together Técnico faculty and researchers and Brisa Group’s innovation team, with the goal of generating new collaborations and supporting proposals with direct application in infrastructure, mobility, and technology.

This initiative is part of Brisa’s ongoing effort to accelerate innovation in real-world contexts, integrating scientific knowledge into practical solutions. The session invites the academic community to present ideas that may evolve into pre-competitive research projects, with the possibility of funding for master’s dissertations or project work.

Brisa aims to accelerate innovation in real contexts, integrating scientific knowledge into practical solutions. The session encourages idea pitches from the Técnico community that can evolve into:

• Pre-competitive R&D projects
• Master’s dissertations and projects with the possibility of funding
• Proofs of concept and pilots in operational environments

Priority themes

1) Asset Maintenance & Management

Proposals with direct applicability to infrastructure operations:

• Automated inspections and predictive maintenance
• Digital twins for real-time monitoring
• Asset preservation and operational risk mitigation

2) Efficiency in Green Maintenance

Technological innovation in road-side vegetation maintenance:

• Robotics prototypes and computer vision systems
• Adaptation of existing tools and processes for greater efficiency and lower cost

While these are the highlighted topics, all proposals with real-world application potential and alignment with Brisa’s challenges will be considered.

Target audience

Técnico faculty, researchers, and R&D teams interested in developing applied work in partnership with one of Portugal’s leading infrastructure operators.
