i.Talks Técnico–BNP Paribas: applied-research collaboration with a focus on financial AI

The next i.Talks Técnico–BNP Paribas brings together Técnico faculty and researchers with BNP Paribas teams in a collaborative, results-oriented setting, turning scientific knowledge into solutions for the financial sector. The format centres on idea presentations from the academic community, discussion of concrete challenges, and definition of next steps for pre-competitive R&D projects, collaboration opportunities, and support.

Priority topics

BNP Paribas has indicated two priority axes for this edition and is open to additional proposals relevant to the financial context:

• Natural Language Processing (NLP): AI solutions for intake, classification, and prioritisation of large information volumes, including emails and reports, to accelerate triage, summarisation, and routing.
• Macroeconomic analysis with AI: Approaches that enhance the efficiency and depth of macroeconomic analyses, exploring data, models, and analytical pipelines with robustness and scalability.

Other ideas and research lines with sector relevance are welcome. Please share this information with colleagues and teams for whom these topics are pertinent.

Session format

Short thematic framings combined with guided brainstorming, participant idea pitches, and technical Q&A.

Who should join

Técnico faculty, researchers, and R&D teams interested in developing applied work in partnership with a leading European bank, or in attending to understand company needs, explore collaborations, and identify themes for applied projects.
