KEARNEY annually awards an academic merit award to the best student of the  Probability and Statistics unit of the Mathematics Department of Técnico.

Target audience and application conditions

Candidates for the Kearney Merit Award in Probability and Statistics are all Técnico students enrolled, for the first time, in the Probability and Statistics curricular unit in the various Técnico degree courses.

Essential requirements

1. 1. Students who took the additional Probability and Statistics exam will be ranked according to their final grade in the course, which they obtained during the normal or resit exam period in that semester.
   2. The tiebreaker criterion will be based on the average of the first-year course units of students who took the additional Probability and Statistics exam. However, the jury reserves the right not to award the prize if the student selected in this tiebreaker has obtained a grade lower than 19 for the Probability and Statistics course unit.
3. Prize

• Monetary prize, to be given to Student, amounting to € 1.800 (one thousand and eight hundred euros);
• Donation for the improvement of the education quality, amounting to € 1.200  (one thousand two hundred euros).

Jury

The jury must be composed of more than one Técnico member, so that they have a majority of the votes.
