About TT
The Instituto Superior Técnico, founded in 1911, is recognized as one of the most notable engineering schools in Portugal, attracting the best high school students and maintaining high standards of excellence, resulting in highly competent professionals who have achieved prominent positions in companies and even in government.
The importance that the Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico) places on its connection to the business community and entrepreneurship is reflected in its current organizational structure, with Technology Transfer being recognized as one of the three pillars of the School’s strategic plan, alongside education and research.
The internal restructuring of 2009 led to the creation of the Technology Transfer Area (TT@Técnico), the service responsible for contracting, protecting, managing, and valorizing Técnico’s intellectual property. TT@Técnico also serves as the point of contact between Técnico and companies and is responsible for promoting entrepreneurship among students, researchers, and professors. Additionally, it is responsible for connecting with Técnico’s alumni through the Técnico Alumni platform and promotes the Técnico Career Center, an exclusive platform for career development for all students of the School.
The Technology Transfer Area (TT@Técnico) reports to the Vice-Presidency for Business Interface, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship of the Instituto Superior Técnico, a position held by Professor Pedro Amaral.
