Alumni Talks – PhD Edition 2021

On June 16, we will have the first edition of the “Alumni Talks – PhD Edition”. It’ll take place in a new virtual format at 5 p.m. and it’ll be held in English.

In this edition, Técnico’s doctoral students will have the opportunity to learn about the path of some alumni who, like themselves, have pursued a PhD degree. It will be an informal conversation in which students will be able to clarify doubts, prepare their professional careers, explore options and create a network of contacts.

Registration here until 11:55 p.m. on June 15th. Participation is free but has a limited number of seats. The selection of the participants will be based on the order of registration.

Alumni Talks – Women Edition – 8 de março de 2021

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021

On March 8th, we will have the “Alumni Talks – Women Edition”. It will take place in a new virtual format at 11:30 am.

This edition will honor International Women’s Day and will include the participation of Técnico’s Gender Balance committee.

In this way, the guests will be exclusively female former students of Técnico and all students will be able to participate to clarify all your doubts, define your career, share experiences with former students who have a professional career of excellence.

This year the event will be in a new format. It will take place virtually and after a conversation with some alumna at the “virtual table” with other colleagues there will be an exchange of “table” so that the participants can learn about other paths.

Apply here. Registration until 11:55 pm on March 4th. Participation is free. The selection of participants will be based on their motivation*.

Do you want to be one of Técnico’s nominees for the Pan-European Seal programme 2021/2022?

Pan-European Seal programme is a Traineeship Programme offered by EPO (European Patent Office) e o EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for students and alumni of some of the biggests european universities.

Instituto Superior Técnico is one of the partner universities and is inviting its students and recent alumni to participate in this program and how is work in an intellectual property office for a year.

The EPO Munich and the EUIPO Alicante are looking for exactly graduates in Science and Engineering for the vacancies. Specific knowledge in these areas is highly valued.

In the last year of the programme, 6 Técnico students and alumni were selected to work in different areas of EUIPO and EPO. They are in the middle of the program at the moment. This year can be you there.

What is this programme?

It’s a Traineeship Programme offered by EPO and EUIPO. It’s a 12 months and 2 weeks programme at EPO Munich or EUIPO Alicante and pays around 1.000 – 2.000 € per month. The programme starts in september of 2021. This year part of the programme will be online.

How can I apply?

Candidates can only be accepted if proposed by their university. So, through this form you can apply for the consideration of IST. The deadline is 1st March 2021.

How is the job?

On the job training:

Trainees are fully integrated in EUIPO or EPO Departments.

Multicultural work experience.

Team working.

Supervision system.

Online training:

IP & non-IP courses available

Academy Learning Portal.

Online language courses.

Webinars and events.

Other activities:

Trainees’ Orientation Programme.

Alumni E. Stories & Launch Pad to E. Awards 2020/21

Do you want to know the challenges that entrepreneurs face on their way?

Do you know what projects your colleagues are developing in the entrepreneurship disciplines this semester?

Being an entrepreneur requires several skills that are necessary to boost! You’re invited to participate in a Talk with 2 entrepreneurial alumni at Alumni E.Stories and also explore the projects of the E.Awards@Técnico contest.

Meet Amelia Santos (Co-founder and CEO at Innuos) e o Guilherme Farinha (Co-founder at Alfredo AI), during an informal conversation between the two, taking the opportunity to participate and share experiences and ideas with the empathy of those who were also students in Técnico.

The 8th edition of the Alumni E.Stories, this time within the road to Launch Pad@E.Awards, is an initiative to support and reward projects developed by students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship curricular units.

The event will take place on November 18th at 5:30 p.m in a virtual format. Participation is free, however places are limited. Register now at https://bit.ly/3n3ZEr9

At the end of the event, there will be a Network Room in which you can take the opportunity to chat with the invited Alumni and clarify your doubts. You also can explore new projects in the E.Awards virtual pavilion.

Web Summit 2020 – Tickets for Técnico students

The Web Summit 2020 will take place from 2nd to 4th December. It is the largest technology conference in the world and Técnico will participate once more. This year, the conference will be fully online in the format tested at the Collision at Home conference, in Canada, last June.

As a way of recognizing and supporting our students, Técnico will offer 10 General Attendee tickets and 10 Women in Tech tickets to foster the innovation spirit of our community, to give the opportunity to establish contacts with people from the technology field all over the world, and to take Técnico’s DNA to the conference.

The team’s job will be to promote Técnico to partners, attendees, founders and alumni. It’s a unique opportunity to network with people from all over the world and to strengthen ties with the Técnico’s alumni!

These are the requirements:

Have availability throughout the web summit period (November 4-7)
Be a current Técnico’s student;
Be outgoing and have charisma;
Have a good English level;
Interest in the world of technology.

Experiences in entrepreneurship, innovation and student organizations will be valued (eg Student Centers, Técnico Ambassadors, Technology Fairs, etc.).
