IP Talks continue at Técnico with a new session on “Prior Art Search”
The next session will focus on “Prior Art Search (state-of-the-art search)” and will take place on 27 November at 12:00 pm. It will be a valuable opportunity to deepen strategies for searching the state of the art and to better understand how to assess novelty, inventive step and opportunities for protecting research results.

Session Overview
This session will focus on “Prior Art Search”, understood as a structured search of the state of the art relevant to the participants’ research. It will explore how to use patent databases and other information sources to:
- understand what has already been protected or disclosed in a given field
- assess novelty and inventive step before drafting a paper or a patent application
- identify white spaces, competitors and potential partners
The session will be led by Susana Rodrigues, Patent Consultant at Inventa Internacional, SA, who will share practical examples from her experience working with R&D teams.

P Talks are informal lunchtime sessions organized by the Intellectual Property Unit of Técnico’s Technology Transfer Office (TT@Técnico). They are aimed at the entire academic community, with a particular focus on researchers, professors, PhD students, and anyone engaged in scientific work or interested in Intellectual Property.
Sessions run for two hours (12:00–2:00 pm, including time for discussion and questions) and address relevant topics in the field of Intellectual Property.
