McKinsey Merit Award in Computational Mathematics
McKinsey annually awards an academic merit award to the best student of the U.C. Computational Mathematics in the Mathematics Department of IST’s.
Target audience and application conditions
Candidates for the McKinsey Merit Award in Computational Mathematics are all students enrolled at Técnico and who: a) have passed the subject of Computational Mathematics with a final mark of no less than 16 in the academic year in which the award is given; b) fulfil the criteria defined in the regulations in force.
Essential requirements
1. Students will be ranked according to their final grade in the subject of Computational Mathematics (obtained in the normal or appeal period, in the first enrolment) and by the jury’s assessment. In the event of a tie, the jury will take into account the average marks obtained by the students in the subjects in which they were enrolled in the current academic year and which form part of the curriculum of the course. If one of the tied students has taken more subjects than the other, the best grades (equal in number for both competitors) will be used to break the tie.
2. The selected student can only benefit from 1 (one) Merit Award in the same academic year.
Prize
- Monetary prize amounting to 1.600€ (one thousand and six hundred euros), to be given to student;
- Donation for the improvement of the education quality, in the amount of 1.070€ (one thousand and seventy euros);
Jury
The jury must be made up of more than one Técnico teacher, so that they have the majority of votes, and a representative from McKinsey & Company.
