Brisa, a member of Técnico’s Partner Network, is committed to innovation as a driving force to transform mobility, investing in solutions such as predictive maintenance management, the digitalization of operational training, the reinvention of the toll experience, and the development of safer, more sustainable highways ready for the future.
The TecInnov Brisa Competition aims to create proof-of-concept projects developed around strategic challenges set by Brisa, focusing on themes such as intelligent and predictive maintenance management, customer experience at tolls, road safety, sustainability, and the highway of the future.

Target Audience
Eligible participants in the TecInnov Brisa 2025 Competition are undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students from Instituto Superior Técnico.
Teams should be composed predominantly of members of the Técnico academic community.

- Safety: How can I make the highway safer?
- Digital Training: Digital simulation platforms for training and preparing operations teams responsible for managing action protocols and responses to highway incident/accident scenarios

Funding
In the TecInnov Brisa 2025 edition, each selected project may receive funding up to €2,500.
The total prize fund available is €10,000.
Funding Criteria
Projects will be assessed based on the following general criteria:
a) Team competence and suitability
b) Feasibility and level of innovation
c) Economic potential and business model robustness
d) Technology readiness and time-to-market
e) Requested financial support and budget availability
Pre-selected ideas will be presented in a pitch format to the competition jury. Those approved will be granted financial support to develop their innovation project.
Proof-of-concept projects can be theoretical, practical, or physical models, but must be sufficiently robust to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed concept. They must be developed within a maximum period of 6 months.
Projects will be approved based on alignment with the available budget.
The funding provided is intended to support part of the project’s activities. These will be clearly defined when the support is awarded. The beneficiary may be required to repay part or all of the funding if the supported activities are not carried out under the specified conditions.
Jury
The jury will consist of 3 members from Técnico and 2 members from Brisa.
The jury for TecInnov 2025 is composed of:
